Home!

I'm back! My trip to Chicago was so fun!

I saw my brother's firehouse, did oodles of shopping with my mom, hung out with a great friend, spent time with my dog, joked around with my younger bro, celebrated my dad's 54th birthday and just had a wonderful time all around.

My older brother and I. We haven't changed much, really LOL.

Me and my brothers of awesome.

My darling old man!

The weather was beautiful when I got back and since then it has been getting nice and stormy, which I love.

Karma and I have been catching up on our cuddling.

And I'm about to put some spring bunnies up in the shop!

More details about them later. For now it's off to bed!

Seattle

We went to Seattle today to get out of the house and clear our minds a little. It's been a busy and heartbreaking week and a good drive was needed.

We went to this Red Mill burger place because we saw it on Food Network last week and omg the line was down the street. So worth it though. Best veggie burger I have had in a long time. So perfect!

I fell in love with and got some flowers for outside our door.

I love spring. Everything feels so promising, so new. One beautiful journey has ended, but millions more are blooming into new life.

How can you see this and not smile and feel a bit lighter? Today was all about the flowers for me.

And at the end of the day we came across a lone yellow hibiscus plant in the middle of nowhere, the same type we planted on Tink's grave years ago.

We both smiled. Those we knew and loved are doing just fine.

Lisa = Witch

So on Twitter in my bio I said that I'm a witch. My mother is also on Twitter and I get this phone call, "YOUNG LADY WHAT DO YOU MEAN, WITCH?!?".

Well, you know I'm a Pagan mom, and the term Witch is what I relate to the most.

::Gasp:: "You don't cast spells, do you?". Yes, it's like saying a prayer mom.

"Oh no it is not! Lisa, Witches do evil things! Why do you want to be evil!?!"

Etc etc. And bless her, she's really trying to talk with me about it instead of going all ape shit. So it's a start.

Should be interesting when I go visit my family in March.

The Sound is reflecting the sky tonight and looks like glass kissed with the sunset. Just beautiful.

A pod of transient orcas was seen here yesterday! <3

Into the Dreaming

I had a few dreams last night that rolled into one huge dream and all I can remember is thinking, I know this! I remember that! I know him, I've missed him! I know that horse, etc...

And while trying to hold on to the pieces I woke up and tried to recall the things I had remembered, the faces I felt I knew, but it was all out of reach by the time I was fully awake.

And I'm left wishing I could remember.

Finally done!

Sorry for not posting recipes for the last two weeks, or really even updating this blog much for that matter. I've been neck deep in yarn and felt and beads and fabric while working on a gift and I'm finally done and it's been sent out! Can't say what it is because this blog is read by a certain someone, but I hope she likes it. If not, that's ok too, I had a blast making it!

It's always fun to challenge yourself when crafting, and it's even better when it turns out!

Anyways. Hope all my Pagan readers had a wonderful Yule and I hope the upcoming Christmas holiday is wonderful as well! I'll be WORKING this Christmas as the Mr. got a temporary website project for me to do at his company, so some extra income for the holidays!! Thanks, Santa!

Nick will be heading to California in the next couple of weeks for a few days for work, so I'll have the place to myself which means I hope I have some extra $ for fabric and yarn for more crafts because I'm totally out now and what else am I going to do by myself besides watch movies and have conversations with my cat?

Despite going for work related business, I hope he enjoys himself, too. The man works way too hard and doesn't get paid enough for the shit he has to deal with, in my opinion. His parents may drive to the California branch to see him since they're only a few hours away. Speaking of his parents, guess who sent me a Halloween cookbook for Yule with all the witch related recipes bookmarked? Hilarious.

Also, they sent us the new Harry Potter movie which we still haven't seen. Nick wants to wait until we get this new TV and speaker system he's been eyeing, so it may be a little longer until I get to see it. Sigh. Hopefully we can scrape enough $ for it all, but I figure the man works his ass off and if the only thing he wants is a TV that doesn't change the volume on it's own (thanks, goodwill TV), he's gonna get it.

I want a real, honest to goodness full-time job for Christmas, Santa. I'll make you cookies! Filled with weed! C'mon, man!

Testing...

Got an iPhone thing from the Mr.'s work and I'm updating my blog from the car while listening to music at the same time! I'm so out of the loop technology wise, this is amazing!

I'm so addicted it's not even funny. But holy shit, I'm blogging from a frigging phone!

Ugh.

The move is finally done. We're exhusted and just got our laptop back from getting the screen fixed. However, we still have no internet (yup...at the office again) because Broadstripe changed the date on us. Bastards. So no October pictures this post, but the next one, YES!

Pics of the new place will be up soon as well. I'm behind on so many things now, blah. I have so much to write about, but I just want to go back to sleep, haha.

We relaxed a bit last night with pizza and a movie. Watched "Once" and it was wonderful. Must get the soundtrack now.

A better post will be soon, I promise. With pictures!

Zzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Almost done!

I'm posting this from Nick's office because the computer is in the process of being moved and Internet will be up by Wednesday. So no awesome pictures of the awesomeness that I am now awesome enough to live in. Awesome.

Oh, and not only is this place wayyyy cheaper than the last place/hell hole, but we don't pay for water or garbage here, either. And I now have working appliances, a toilet with a flush handle that works, no carpet in the bathroom or anywhere for that matter, and did I mention awesome? I'm just going to say that word again. I like how it feels right now. Totally fucking awesome.

Also, I have a lot of Octoberness to catch up with as well as choosing someone for that award.

Until I have Internet, you awesome people, you.

AWESOME!

The Nobel Peace prize? Seriously?

Can someone please explain to me why Obama got the Nobel? Maybe I'm not following, but doesn't one actually have to oh, I don't know...do something totally freaking awesome to get one (not counting Al Gore. Because I could talk about climate change all day long as well as anyone else with a science background, but that man is a complete douche bag)?

Not to piss people off with politics, but wtf? Yes, I voted for the man, but he's not a god and he sure as hell hasn't done anything to deserve the fucking Nobel Peace Prize. At the very least let's wait until the man has a full term under his belt, eh? Jesus.

Anywho. I'm behind on the October party. And omg, that award! I didn't choose people! I'll get to it all asap! I painted the new place today (will post pics, weee!) and we started moving shit in. And then I came back to our current place and was all, dammit. This place really does suck. I wanna go back to the better one!

SoOoOoOoOon....

Ohh, spoookkyyyy...

So. Moving.

I've been looking at Etsy for some stuff for the new place. It only has one bedroom, which means no office for Nick. Which means his computers and crap has to be in our small living room. Which may kill me because Nick + Office = Papers of DOOM.

So I pretty much get to do what I want with the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom and he can do whatever with the living room area as long as there is room for my couch and TV. Which makes me super excited because I have a blank slate to work with and OMG!

I'm a total kitchen/domestic witch so this is going to be a blast for me. I'll have a place to dry my herbs, make my soaps and candles and what have you. I'm thinking cottage witch with a bit of shabby chic thrown in there.

Bliss!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Guess who found a nice cozy place with no carpet at all and $250 dollars less a month with everything NEW?? That's right. Me. And we're moving there on the 8th. I am super happy right now. SUPER.

I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant

I'm obsessed with this show on TLC called "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant." It's wrong, really, but I can't help but laugh at some of these people. While in some of the cases I can see how they didn't know they were pregnant, the majority of the stories go like this:

"I had a two year old at home that my mom was watching so I could go out and party, cause I'm a typical 20 year old don'tcha know, and got with this guy and didn't use any form of birth control and was shocked to find out I was pregnant for 9 months and never knew and have no idea how it could of happened! I'll bet it was when I got with that one cute guy whose name I didn't even ask for..."

Wow. Who knew life resulted in putting a penis inside of a vagina? Not me. And not you, either apparently. Tell me again just how your first child came to be?

Some of the stories are mind boggling, though. Like this girl in the UK who didn't know she was pregnant until 9 months later when she goes into labor and gives birth in her bathroom to twins. Twins! And her mom was a nurse and never knew her daughter was pregnant either. Crazy!

Nick is making a yummy pasta dinner while I sit here and watch Karma fuck with Maggie. Maggie will walk by the couch and Karma will reach out and paw at Maggie's back. When Maggie turns around Karma looks at her like, "What?" and will just lay there until Maggie leaves. Then Karma will tap her back again and the cycle just keeps on going.

I'm easily amused. And it's sad.

Tomorrow I'm going out to Port Angeles to talk to some employment place who can find me a temp position somewhere around here that could turn into full time. I've driven out there before with Nick, but never by myself and once I get there I have no clue where this office is. Hopefully it won't be too hard to find. Gotta make a good driving cd cause the radio usually sucks.

Blah.

I'm never going to eat again

So Nick's family came to visit for a few days and as always it was days of hilarious-ness. You can never get tired of these people. They are so kind, funny, and understanding you just want to put them in a box for safe keeping. Even Maggie misses them, and she was thrilled when they got here. No car jumping this time, though.

We hung out, went to Seattle, ate way too much food, and made more memories. They got me a basket filled with craft stuff for my birthday that the whole family put together and Heidi made me a case for my crochet hooks as well as helped me figure out how to read sewing patterns for some clothes. They didn't have to do all that and the whole visit was just lovely.

Rick took a few pictures of Nick and I that I can't wait to get (by a carousel!) and I got a few nice ones with my camera as well.

I love this one

I love Garrett's sarcasm. I still think you two would be perfect for each other, Anna! Mwahahaha...

Also, this wouldn't be my blog without pictures of my babies, now would it?

Dis kibble. I take it from you.

Whidbey Island Trip

So we went to Whidbey Island today (where Practical Magic was filmed!) and got horribly sun burned and I'm already getting blisters. Why? Because SOMEONE wanted to walk into town from the ferry instead of TAKING THE BUS. And stupid me was all ok, sure, a walk would be nice. Two bad it was a fucking TWO HOUR WALK.

However, on the way there we did see several bald eagles, red tailed hawks, cows, horses, a blockhouse, and a variety of wild flowers. So that part was cool.

Crockett Blockhouse

Fuck them all!

A bed and breakfast Nick and I once stayed at.

Penn Cove, where Lolita was captured. Made me sad just being there.

I'm now going to slather the hell out of my body with Aloe Vera gel. Ugh.

Edit: My skin hurts just taking a shower, people. I'm going to get skin canceerrrrr. On the entire top half of my body.
