Doesn't the embroidery look like Polish Pottery? Um...sorta? Ok, it does to me and I loves it. So there. I do have a pattern to make my own tier skirts, but sadly no fabric. Because I need to finish the other skirt first. I really have trouble just finishing one project at a time. I'm telling you, crafters ADD.....

OMG that sexy BowFlex commercial just came on tv. It has "Power Rod" Technology. ::snorts:: Need I say anymore?

Speaking of working out, I'd like to start saving for one of those bikes you can fold up and store when not in use. I have no idea what brand to get, though. Maybe one that comes with that BowFlex guy? But I digress.

Seattle

We went to Seattle today to get out of the house and clear our minds a little. It's been a busy and heartbreaking week and a good drive was needed.

We went to this Red Mill burger place because we saw it on Food Network last week and omg the line was down the street. So worth it though. Best veggie burger I have had in a long time. So perfect!

I fell in love with and got some flowers for outside our door.



I love spring. Everything feels so promising, so new. One beautiful journey has ended, but millions more are blooming into new life.


How can you see this and not smile and feel a bit lighter? Today was all about the flowers for me.

And at the end of the day we came across a lone yellow hibiscus plant in the middle of nowhere, the same type we planted on Tink's grave years ago.



We both smiled. Those we knew and loved are doing just fine.

Local eats!

I love shopping in our grocery store. Especially for Asian foods.








How cool is all this? There are aisles and aisles of packages that look more like works of art than food.

I have to either read the ingredients to figure out what it is, or ask the awesome sushi chef just what the hell I'm about to try.

I stocked up on sushi supplies and nori maki (rice crackers wrapped in seaweed, SO GOOD) and all sorts of awesome. We made chow mein the other night and it was om nom nom!

Speaking of food I fooled around with frosting tips today.

So I went to get my supplies today and man, easiest money I ever spent. I mean it just flew through my fingers like water.

I had to make some sacrifices for the sake of my budget like getting Strathmore paper instead of the Arches that I really prefer, but whatever. I can deal.



Doesn't look like much, but believe it or not that is over $200 of supplies right there. The paints alone were around $100!



The colors one of my instructors wants for the class was twenty freakin' bucks a tube!

These are my favorite brand of paints and will last well over a year as you only need a tiny bit, but my lord! Couldn't I just use red instead of cadmium red? Jesus.

So now I get to set up my art desk and play around with AWESOME!

Mystery Fabric and Tales of a Crazy Neighbor!

Ok, first things first. My neighbor, who seems like a very nice woman, is creeping me out a bit.

She told Nick a few weeks ago that she saw an alien carrying a pink balloon and said that means I'm pregnant with a baby girl because apparently, she talks to aliens all the time. Then she knocks on our door a few days later only to tell me that her mother is the Queen of England and her father might be John Kennedy. Alrighty then. I'll be sure to log that away.

So tonight she knocks on our door and points to her belly and asks me if I'm pregnant. Um...no. "Really? You didn't get pregnant Christmas night between 11:30 and 12:30?" Wtf lady? NO. I WAS BLEEDING THEN not that it's any of your business to begin with. Thanks, bye bye now.

OMG. Sweet, sweet lady, but creeping meee ouuuttttt.

Also, I received mystery mail today. Someone sent me this really cute red fabric with white polka dots all over it and I have no idea where the hell it came from. All I know is if my card ends up being charged for it chances are my fabric obsession has driven me to sleep shop. And knowing myself (because...I am...uh..myself), that's highly possible.

I have an idea to make a couple cute pillow cases with it as it'll go really well with this rose flower fabric I have, but I don't know if I should use it in case it was a mistake or something.

Today was so freaking weird.

Antique store

So while I was waiting for Nick yesterday after my job interview(which I haven't yet heard back from so I assume they hired someone else because they wanted someone by Monday) I hung out at a favorite antique store of mine.

I love junk stores, you never know what you'll find, and it's fun to think about where all these things came from.










So of course, I find things I like but have no money for. Go figure. I'm hoping to hear back from two other job places, so we'll see. Job searching is so depressing because it makes me feel like a total failure when nothing comes out of it and then I just come home and cry. Blah.

Does anybody remember The 10th Kingdom? That tv series that was on years ago? The Mr. and I were talking about my love for fairy tales last night and I brought up this tv series and he has never seen it!

He wants to watch it now, so I have to find it somewhere. I remember having a crush on Wolf. Go figure, haha. Who doesn't love a man with uh...a bushy tail?

Mr: "Why is it we can't watch anything without me feeling jealous?"

Me: "I dunno. I can't help it if I love penis... oohh, wait, change the channel back. Did you see that one?"

Welcome to our Castle!

I have to get some more updated pics, but here's what I got off the camera so far:

I still have a lot of work to do. The bedroom and kitchen need some nice rugs, the bathroom is going to be all shabby chic looking, and I'd like shabby chic looking oven mitts and towels for the kitchen as well. We need to buy shelves for Nick's office area so once that's done I'll get a pic of that and the tv and couch area also.

The ferret cage and Karma's litter pan are nicely tucked away in a small closet area just off the bathroom (don't worry, I took off the door so it's not like the fuzzies are just closed away and ignored or anything) and Maggie's crate is currently under Nick's office desk.

It's still a bit cluttered in here as things still need to get organized, but once the shelves are in the space will really open up.

After Thanksgiving once the sales really hit we're planning on going to Tacoma to shop for a pretty shabby shower curtain and a new comforter for the bedroom and just general cottage looking things for the place.

Oh, I was at the goodwill the other day and found some genuine polish pottery for $3! It's this cute little sugar jar or something with a lid and I saw it at another store for $50! Mine, bitches!

God, I love a good deal like that. Almost better than sex.

Wow.

I was speaking with this woman at the store admiring her necklace and she told me she got it from here. So I go to check it out, and I'm so in love. Look at these clothes! Definitely going on my favorites list...

And all the gemstones, crystals and jewelry as well?? Oh my. Also, I love this. No matter what, my personal space is a space of peace and I plan on keeping it that way.

How grilling is done in my house.

Smile fo me daddy (What you lookin at?) I want to see your grill (You wanna see my wha?!)

1) Bought a grill on sale because Home Depot had too many and was trying to sell them off ($80! For a $300 grill!).

2) Bought a propane tank. Got propane.

3) Stopped at the store to get buns for turkey burgers.

4) Came home.

5) Carried monster grill upstairs with help of Mr.

6) 20 minutes of cursing and a black and blue arm later, we make it up the stairs.

7) Hooked up the propane.

8) Realized there was no more ground turkey. Sent Mr. back to store.

9) Mr. comes home. Gets ready to grill. Steps outside, and....

10) It starts pouring rain.

Sweet Dreams

We bought a new sheet set for the bed because our old one was way too big and wasn't helping either of us sleep. Waking up tangled in the covers and the bed sheet is no fun.

We found this really cute peach polka dot set at TJMax, and I love it.

Again, my camera sucks at night. But you get the idea. Time to sleep!

Nick also bought this face mask thing with herbs that keeps out the light, thinking it might help me sleep even better. Soon I'll be sleeping in curlers like some crazy old lady.

Holy crap, is that CABLE?! In my house!?

Nick and I found a company (Broadstripe something or other) that will give us basic cable, phone, and internet for the same price we are now paying just for internet ALONE through Qwest. Because Qwest totally sucks and loves our money a little too much, and people who work there are just annoying. Plus our contract expires with them on the 15th, so now is as good a time as any to drop those fuckers like a rock.

So my pretty, pretty cable will be set up this Saturday, and I'm SO FRIGGIN' EXCITED. Because I haven't had cable or have watched anything remotely good on tv for the past two years. I can only take so much of Two and a Half Men re-runs. Sorry, Charlie. But I'm a History Channel kind of girl.

Also, Cupid went to a new home today. Nick works with a wonderful woman who rescues birds and recently two of her parrots passed away. So I thought she'd like to have Cupid, and he was sent off with Nick today. I hope you enjoy him, Debi! <3

Date Night Friday

Yesterday was really fun, but really um, bad. Here's the bad part:

My healthy diet: Shot dead.

We ended up going food shopping (and then ate out! I know, right?) and just had a nice day of going where ever. We took our time, no rush, and ended up near Port Angeles where I dragged him into store after store of AWESOME SHIT. I ended up getting a few candles for the bedroom while he got off buying crap for his office (The Mr. + Office Depot = Madness). We left around 8AM and didn't get back home till 6-ish. My feet wanted to reach up and choke me.

Then this morning our dishwasher broke, and our oven doesn't want to turn on. Guess who gets to call the landlord? Not I.

This morning we also went to the Uptown Farmer's Market and I wish I brought the camera with me because I saw these HUGE ASS purple and blue poppies that were the size of my hand. And now I want to get some for the yard because they would look so awesome. Plus, you know. Drugs.

We took Maggie with us and I think she was the most popular dog there. This one woman came up to us and was all, A Wheaten Teerriiieerrrrr! These dogs get me every time! You'd better watch her, cause I'd take her home! And I was all, Really? How much are you willing to pay? Because as much as this dog has grown on me she's still the most insane animal I have ever known in my life.

For example. When my in-laws (to beee) came to visit us last year Maggie was so excited to see them that she ran outside and JUMPED ON TOP OF THEIR CAR. With NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER. She's fucking nuts. When you read that these dogs are not as high strung as other types of terriers, these people have NEVER MET MY DOG.

Don't let the big button nose of cute fool you. I can totally fuck all your shit up.

Oh yeah, I got these at the Goodwill today for two bucks.

I love it when I find things for the house I wanted to make and now have to put no effort forth whatsoever to have them in my (greedy) hands. Because as people who crochet know, adorable items such as these don't just make themselves, it takes a lot of freakin' work. Work that I now don't have to do.
